Meet Our Board

In 2003, I moved to Baker City, right out of law school and into a position with the Baker County District Attorney’s office. Nearly 14 years later, my husband and I are raising our two children in this beautiful place. The motivation behind my efforts with the Baker Valley Education Foundation is based on two beliefs. First, I believe that students in our rural Oregon school district deserve the best, most innovative educational opportunities. Second, I believe others in this generous community feel the same way.

Kim Mosier

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Oregon State University in 2006 and went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Eastern Oregon University in 2008. Since then, I have taught in a multitude of academic settings and am one of the secondary education representatives for the board. I am passionate about ensuring that educational staff within the Baker 5j School District have the resources necessary to provide exceptional learning experiences for our children.

Stephani Rasmussen

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Art and Graphic Design from Southern Oregon University.  In 2010 I earned my Master’s Degree in Education from Portland State University. In the 7 years of teaching elementary students, I have seen a reduction of focus in the arts and science, especially in primary grades. Today’s fast changing world requires students who are both creative and scientifically literate. With that as an end, I see the Baker Valley Education Foundation as an exciting tool for educators to ensure students’ exposure to quality experiences.

Angela Willison

I grew up in Eastern Washington and have lived within 3 hours of the Columbia River all of my life.  I am committed to community service and have volunteered my time and energy to service for as long as I can remember.  I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration.  After college, I worked as a public accountant, in corporate real estate and in the banking industry.  In Baker City, I live with my husband, 2 children, and 3 cats (yes, that is a lot of cats).  I volunteer in the classroom, am a Baker 5J School Board Member, volunteer for my church and other agencies, and I am a fitness instructor at the local YMCA.  I am excited to contribute my financial background and energy to the foundation’s successful achievement of its objectives.

As a mom of three kiddos, I am excited to be a part of this amazing organization and have the opportunity to serve both the students and teachers of the 5J School District.  With a professional background in non-profit management, fundraising, special events, I am looking forward to lending my expertise to the foundation and see it becoming the go-to organization for members of the community to be able to give to and support innovative and cutting edge educational opportunities for the students of the Baker Valley. Let's work together to leave a legacy of educational excellence for our children!

Lindy Petrik

As a mother of two and a member of this community for the last decade, I have a strong desire to give back to our community and to our children in particular. My career as a wildlife biologist has provided me the opportunity to work with kids in the outdoors and to experience firsthand the profound effect that experiential learning has on our children. I believe that when students have opportunities for hands-on learning it fosters a lifetime of curiosity.

Jamie Ratliff

I grew up in Jerome, ID and moved to Baker City in 2005 where I have lived with my husband and two kids.  In 2007, I graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of General Studies. I have worked for Wells Fargo Bank for over 10 years and am currently the Baker City Branch Manager. Community service has been a passion of mine for several years now, as I have served as the treasurer for the former Baker City Preschool Co-Op, as both secretary and treasurer for the South Baker PTO, Baker High School Scholarship Board, and I have volunteered many hours in my children's classrooms. I am excited to utilize my skills with my financial background to build on the Baker Valley Education Foundation's goals and objectives.

Heidi Quintela

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Eastern Washington University in 1995. I am currently a Master’s Degree Candidate in Teaching with Grand Canyon University. Five years ago (2012) my family and I relocated to Baker City, Oregon. Experiential Learning is a critical component to student development, as well as, family & community engagement. As an educator and stakeholder, I find true value in trying to implement funding that equalizes student learning opportunities throughout the entire Baker School District. Having a diverse background in Business and growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I eagerly look forward to utilizing my experience for the betterment of our community. With three children in the school district, I have a vested interest in their future and the future of all children in this community.
